A key principle of Strawberry Star’s plans will be in keeping development-related traffic out of the heart of the town centre. Under plans being proposed by Harlow District Council for a ‘sustainable bus route’ flowing through West Gate, along Market Square and beyond, a vehicle route would be reintroduced through the town centre.
Under the previously approved plans for our site, access to resident car parking for the development would have seen vehicles using part of this route.
In the new plans, we are proposing to build a multi-storey car park on the edge of the town centre to serve the development. Access would be from Kitson Way, avoiding the need for development-related resident traffic needing to flow into the sustainable bus route, and reducing the potential for congestion in the town centre.
The car park will be developed into a town centre feature and will include up to c. 450 spaces, equivalent to approximately one space for every two apartments, an appropriate ratio for a sustainable location with good access to public transport.
